Barong is probably the most well known dance. It is also another story telling dance, narrating the fight between good and evil. This dance is the classic example of Balinese way of acting out mythology, resulting in myth and history being blended into one reality.
Barong is a character in the mythology of Bali. He is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of Rangda in the mythological traditions of Bali. Banas Pati Rajah is the fourth “brother” or spirit child that accompanies a child throughout life. Banas Pati Rajah is the spirit which animates Barong. A protector spirit, he is often represented by a lion, and traditional performances of his struggles against Rangda are popular parts of Balinese culture.

Tegallalang is one of the famous tourism objects in Ubud that “must to visit”. Because it panorama is a unique place in the world. It offers a wide range of natural landscape, rice terraces are everywhere in this island, and I never bored of looking at the green steps over and over.
Northeast of Ubud town centre the land starts to become more undulating, and this is a good place to view Bali’s classic rice terraces. The village of Tegallalang is very much a tourist trap, but it is worth braving the hordes of trinket peddlers to view the stunning terraces there. Take Jalan Raya from the town centre, as far east as you can go, and then turn north and continue about nine km until you reach Tegallalang. Look for the picture postcard rice terraces on you right-hand side. For those moving on north to the Kintamani area, this is on route and makes for an easy stop. A small fee is charged to cars entering, at least to tourists in hired cars.
Kintamani is known as Panelokan, In Penelokan, ribbons of black lava ripple down the valley from the misty peak of Mount Batur. Penelokan literally means “the place to look”, where the world changes colors. Sometimes, the still lake there resembles blue glass, and at other, a sheet of platinum. Legend tells of Pasupati (Siwa) dividing the sacred Hindu mountain Mahameru and placing the halves in Bali, as the volcanoes Gunung Agung and Batur. Next to Agung, Batur is the most revered of Bali’s mountains and symbolizes the female element next Besakih’s male.
Penelokan is a good place to make a lunch stop; the Lakeview Restaurant is literally on the edge of the crater. However, if you want to breathe in the beauty of Batur, it’s best to do it from Kintamani further up the road, as the vendors in Penelokan can be extremely aggressive in their sale tactics.
The sacred spring of Tirta Empul in Tampaksiring is revered by all Balinese. They say that it is created by the god Indra when he pierced the earth to create a spring of amerta, the elixir of immortality, with which he revived his forces who were poisoned by the evil king, Mayadanawa. Be that as it may, the bathing place was built under the rule of Sri Candrabhaya Singha Warmadewa in the 10th century.
The waters are believed to have magical curative powers. Every year people journey from all over Bali to purify themselves in the clear pools. After leaving a small offering of thanks to the deity of the spring, men and women go to opposite sides to bathe (please remember that it is offensive to photograph the Balinese while they are bathing).
The monkeys within the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal are commonly called long-tailed macaques. Their scientific name is Macaca fascicuiaris. Macaques are found throughout Southeast Asia and many species of macaques live successfully in areas that are heavily utilized by humans. On Bali, there are Balinese long-tailed macaque troops (populations) that live in areas where they have little to no contact with humans and troops that come into contact with humans on a regular basis. However, despite the fact that many species of macaques thrive in areas that are heavily utilized by humans, there is evidence that the viability of Balinese long-tailed macaques (the ability of macaques to continue to thrive) may be dependent upon the conservation of Bali’s forested areas.
Arrive at the hotel and enjoy your time.
