Pemuteran
Located in the northwest of Bali, the Pemuteran Area is situated in Bali Sea, just a few kilometer from the north beach of West Bali. Actually the area of diving site we are talking about is still included into the area of the Bali Barat National Park. Like Menjangan Island, the Pemuteran Area is a part of the Bali Barat National Park. Legally protected by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, Pemuteran Area is just a few minute drive to the east direction of Teluk Terima. In the last decade, Pemuteran Area has been developed as a tourism resort which provides a number of international standard accommodations.

Magical Coral Reefs
Pemuteran Area is a place where you can find out many various coral reefs. Known as Takas, these coral reefs are setup and built by pretty average shallowwater banks; a reeftop covered with a mix of tough, shallow-water soft corals (Lobophyton, Sarcophyton, Sinularia), fire coral, and hardy stony coral (Acropora, Porites) with some sponges, gorgonians, and black coral spirals showing up in the deeper areas. There are many tropical reef fish and a profusion of Moorish Idol. There is also a turtle sanctuary located at Pemuteran with regular releases of turtles into the sea, which have been bred at the Sanctuary.

Napoleon Reef
“Napoleon Reef,” is a flat-topped, underwater mound, about the size of a football field. At its shallowest, to bottom rises to about 5-10 meters of the surface. The reef is covered with sponges and corals, including great table-top Acropora reaching a diameter of 5 meters. From the top, the profile follows a gentle slope to 35 meters, with very good invertebrate life. Two enormous barrel sponges serve as landmarks. Fish life is quite good. Large cuttlefish are often seen. Occasionally, manta rays appear to feed across the reeftop. The southeastern point of Napoleon drops down to 35 meters, where there is an excellent deep reef with soft corals and whip corals, dubbed “Cody’s Corner.”

Close Encounters
“Pertamuan Dekat” (literally the substrate shows a “Close Encounters”) takes its name from the big fish here which allow-and even initiate-close encounters with divers: reef sharks, tuna, mackerel, barracuda and jacks, and an occasional large grouper or Napoleon wrasse. Even whale sharks have been seen here on occasion.

Lebar Reef
At Lebar (literally “wide”) Reef, steep slopes drop to flat sand at about 25 meters. Out over the sand, coral outcrops appear at 25 meters and again at 35 meters. Both the reeftop and side of the taka are covered with thickets of staghorn Acropora, some with colorful blu tips, interspersed with tabletops Acropora and fan gorgonians.

Kebun Batu
Kebun Batu (“Rock Garden”) is just a 5 minute snorkel from shore. Here a huge boul rises vertically from about 18 meters to just 3 meters from the surface. The rock, full of crevices and small, shallow caves, serves as a hotel to many fish. Elsewhere, the substrate shows a mixture of sponges, hard and soft corals. This is a very good night dive.

Special Dive Site
The dive site is located in front of the docking area of the Gilimanuk Harbor . I bet you won ‘t believe this place has so many things to see, until you put on your mask and start exploring the 2 to 6m depth of water. Visibility is varying from 3 to 15m. If you are looking for big fishes, you will not find them here. This place is strictly for “unusual” and rare underwater creatures, which are small and well camouflage d between the sea grass, the sand and some debrisas yes, slowly work on the garbage and most probably there is something underneath. Snake Eals , Sea Snakes, Cockatoo Fish, Juvenile of Rabbit Fishes, Flounders, varieties of Gobies, Frog Fishes, Dragonets, Nudibranch, Sea Hares and many more. If you are an Underwater Photographer of Video shooter , you may spend 2 hours bottom time, 3 to 4 dives a day and still find something new.

Great service overall, nothing to complain about. They did the things we hired them for and we were happy to find them on a short notice.
Equipment seemed maintained well enough, nothing to complain. Dive master knew the dive spots well, a very nice guy.
